Blaine Teen Charged in Highway 100 Shooting

A 19-year-old Blaine man, Abdisalan Muhumed Ali, has been charged with drive-by shooting at an occupied vehicle and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with a Sept. 30 shooting on southbound Highway 100 in St. Louis Park. The driver of a Honda Accord was shot in the ankle and suffered a non-life-threatening injury; a passenger was unharmed. According to the criminal complaint, surveillance video and cellphone location data placed Ali’s black Hyundai following the Honda from a Columbia Heights restaurant to the shooting scene, where investigators found bullet casings. Ballistics analysis also linked casings from the scene to other shootings, including an earlier attack on the same driver. Ali is alleged to be associated with the “1300” gang; the allegations are detailed in court filings.
