Baltimore Gunman Gets 25 Years in Teen’s Killing

Bryan Johnson, who was 16 when he fatally shot 16-year-old Deanta Dorsey and wounded four other teens outside Baltimore's Edmondson Village Shopping Center in January 2023, was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Johnson pleaded guilty to murder, attempted murder and weapons charges. After release, he will serve five years of supervised probation. The second defendant, Daaon Spears, was acquitted. Dorsey's family described the lasting grief of his loss. The attack also renewed calls for action on violence at the shopping center and enforcement of rules restricting sales to students during school hours. Contested: none found.
