ASX Overhauls Leadership Under New CEO With Key Appointments

Anthony Attia started as ASX chief executive in September 2026 and has made his first wave of senior executive appointments. An ASX exchange filing on Monday named Keir Barnes, Dexus CFO since 2021 and deputy CFO for two years prior, to succeed retiring CFO Andrew Tobin after mid-December 2026. Tobin stays on to support the transition. Dexus made a separate announcement on Barnes's departure timeline. Mark Peterson, former CEO of NZX Ltd., begins in November as managing director of clearing and settlement with a dual reporting line to the CEO and independent clearing and settlement oversight boards. Those boards are now made up entirely of independent directors after a regulatory probe. Elaine Vaisanen takes over the COO role in December from Diona Rae and will lead the transformation program. Vaisanen has over 20 years of experience, mostly with JPMorgan Chase & Co., across Europe and Australia. Andrew Jones remains acting group executive for securities and payments. Darren Yip returned to the group executive role for markets and listings after serving as interim CEO. Attia said: "The ASX has a critical role in serving Australia's capital markets and we have a clear plan for improving how we deliver for all of our stakeholders." He also said: "These appointments are adding important depth and critical experience to our leadership."
