American Plans Five Route Cuts Across Four Hubs
American Airlines is reshaping its network with route cuts and new service. It has already withdrawn from Doha, Santa Maria, and Tijuana, citing Middle East instability for the Doha decision and weak performance on the shorter routes. Starting in 2027, it plans to end five more routes: Miami–Tulum, Miami–Montreal, Phoenix–Provo, Chicago O’Hare–Lincoln, and the seasonal Dallas/Fort Worth–Albany service. The Miami–Tulum cut comes as traffic at the airport has fallen sharply, though American will continue flying to Tulum from Dallas/Fort Worth. On the expansion side, American plans to restore year-round Seattle–JFK service in April, with two daily round trips, nearly eight years after ending the route.
