Amazon plans to invest $3 billion in India’s quick-commerce business by 2030, including $1 billion by the end of 2027, according to reports citing people familiar with the plans. Most of the spending is expected to expand its Amazon Now network of neighborhood warehouses, from about 750 locations to roughly 1,300, alongside investment in inventory systems, demand forecasting and product selection. Amazon says the service has surpassed $1 billion in annualized gross sales over the past three months, but it remains behind local competitors: Blinkit, Swiggy and Zepto together hold 77% of the market, compared with Amazon’s 6.2%. India’s quick-commerce market is estimated at $19 billion and projected to reach $41 billion by 2030; Amazon has not confirmed the reported investment amount, and the economics of the high-cost business remain a challenge.

Three billion dollars on warehouses and AI forecasting should help them stock the right items faster in neighborhoods.
Amazon needs this kind of spending if they want any chance against the local players already running quick commerce well.
