Alfalfa Market Theft Suspect Arrested After Store Damage
A 65-year-old man, William Joseph Demmon, was arrested in connection with an alleged theft and property damage at Alfalfa Market east of Bend, Oregon. Authorities say he took merchandise without paying, confronted customers, then damaged the store’s awning, flower boxes and landscaping while trying to drive away; deputies say he resisted arrest. He faces charges including theft, trespass, attempted assault on a peace officer, reckless endangering, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and criminal mischief, and his uninsured vehicle was impounded. The sheriff’s office also said Demmon allegedly threatened a deputy’s family while referencing weapons the day before, and that deputies had responded to 11 calls involving him in the previous two weeks.
