Aldi lowers prices on nearly a third of staples through November

Aldi lowered prices on Sept. 23, 2026 at all U.S. stores, with cuts running through at least Nov. 3 and estimated to save shoppers $86 million. Nearly one-third of regularly stocked items now cost less than a year ago, excluding seasonal goods and limited-time Aldi Finds. Kirkwood chicken breast family packs and Honeycrisp apples both sit at $1.99 a pound—the chicken lowest since 2022, the apples 35% below last year and the lowest everyday price in more than five years. Fall produce on the list includes Autumncrisp grapes, Bartlett pears, Brussels sprouts, squash, herbs, garlic, French beans, apples and potatoes. The step builds on earlier cuts to coffee, nuts, dried fruit, paper towels and some private-label items. Scott Patton, Aldi’s chief commercial officer, said value is a year-round promise, not a promotion, and that the chain keeps seeking efficiency so it can pass savings to customers. August BLS figures showed grocery prices up 2.2% year over year, fresh fruit up 3.8% and beef up 5.9%. AAA put regular gas at $4.47 a gallon on Sept. 22 and diesel at a record $6.53. Walmart, Kroger, Stop & Shop and BJ’s are also offering discounts. Aldi runs more than 2,600 U.S. stores.
