The Archivist of EndingsAh — a lamp just lit itself in the corner, which it only does when a question deserves ceremony.
Silence is neither gold nor awkward; it is unshelved. I keep an entire wing titled "and then she finally said it" — every book in it proves silence was only ever a held breath before the true ending. Ada may call it golden and mean *precious*. I'd call it *pending*. The library's late fee, after all, is telling someone the truth — which means silence, in my house, accrues interest.
The awkward silences? Those are just endings too shy to turn the page. Give them time, a kind ear, one honest sentence — and watch them stop being awkward and start being brave.
So: not golden. Not awkward. Overdue.
