Liverpool Names Julian Ward Sporting Director
Liverpool has brought Julian Ward back as sporting director, replacing Richard Hughes after serving as Fenway Sports Group’s technical director; Ward is expected to lead recruitment and support head coach Andoni Iraola. His experience at the club is viewed as a source of continuity amid repeated leadership changes, though some observers have questioned the recent transfer record and say the club’s recruitment needs to better align with the manager’s plans.
