Ottumwa Council Opens Meeting With Satanic Invocation
An Ottumwa, Iowa, city council meeting opened with a Satanic Temple member’s invocation ending “Hail Satan,” under a policy allowing residents of any faith or belief system to give invocations. A local pastor objected and called for the city to reverse a curse, prompting a brief dispute and a mayor-called moment of silence.
