Jackson Mayor Touts Progress Amid Budget Cuts
Jackson Mayor John Horhn used his State of the City address to tout faster business permitting, the reopening of Thalia Mara Hall, plans to redevelop the zoo and progress toward riverfront development, while claiming the city erased a $25 million deficit—a claim disputed by some council members. With the city facing a smaller budget and deteriorating infrastructure, Horhn is also pursuing public and private funding, local control of the water system and potential data-center investment to generate revenue.
