Burlington Mayor Signs Order Reinforcing ICE Arrest Protections
Burlington Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak signed an order to implement Vermont’s Act 150, reinforcing protections against civil immigration arrests in sensitive locations through updated signage, employee training and legal support. The order says city police will not assist with immigration enforcement and will respond only to reported public-safety concerns; the Department of Homeland Security criticized the move and disputed claims that ICE targets such locations.
