Carroll Restaurant Wins Iowa Tenderloin Contest Among 464 Nominees
Wasted Grain in Carroll won the Iowa Pork Producers Association’s 2026 Best Breaded Pork Tenderloin contest, topping 464 nominated restaurants and four finalists. Co-owner Cory Handlos said the sandwich was inspired by a tenderloin from the contest’s inaugural 2003 winner; Wasted Grain’s recipe uses a thicker cutlet tenderized once to keep the pork flavor prominent.
