Naomi Whitehead, the oldest living person in the United States, celebrated her 116th birthday in Pennsylvania with about 80 to 90 relatives, turning the gathering into a multigenerational family reunion. Family members wore matching blue shirts, and Whitehead posed for photos; a great-niece also gathered family stories and memories. LongeviQuest presented her with a plaque recognizing her status, and a Pennsylvania state senator honored her with a proclamation. Born in Georgia in 1910, Whitehead began working on her family’s farm as a child and later raised three sons with her husband. She has credited habits including never smoking, drinking little alcohol and maintaining her faith as possible contributors to her longevity.
