Zheng Qinwen wins historic China Open WTA 1000 title
Qinwen Zheng won her first WTA 1000 title at the China Open, becoming the first Chinese woman to claim the tournament’s championship with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Mirra Andreeva. Zheng saved three set points in the opener and broke Andreeva late in the second set before closing out the match, earning her first title since Tokyo in 2024. The victory capped an injury comeback following elbow surgery and carried special meaning for Zheng, who has described the Beijing tournament as her “fifth Grand Slam” because she wants to give her all before home fans.
