Yemen Offensive Targets Houthi Red Sea Coast
Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces launched an offensive to retake Houthi-held territory along the Red Sea coast, including positions near Mocha and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, after Houthi advances there. The sides gave conflicting accounts of battlefield gains; earlier, government forces reported recapturing Dhubab and other nearby positions. Yemen’s government condemned Houthi missile attacks on Aden International Airport and Saudi airports and cities, including Mecca and Medina; no casualties were reported at Aden, and Saudi Arabia said it intercepted missiles. The UAE and Kuwait also condemned attacks on Saudi civilian and economic facilities and vessels. The fighting has raised concerns about regional escalation, maritime security, civilian harm and disruption to shipping.
