Coast Guard Searches for Missing Medical-Transfer Plane
The U.S. Coast Guard is searching waters about 13 nautical miles south of Nantucket for a Gulfstream G100, registration C-GRJP, that was carrying six people from Bermuda to Boston. The FAA lost contact with the aircraft around 2 a.m. Saturday. FlightAware showed a takeoff from Bermuda International Airport at 11:41 p.m. ET. The jet is registered to Latitude Air Ambulance, a medical transport service for patient repatriation. Coast Guard Northeast District said on X: "Air & surface crews have launched in search of the aircraft. Updates will be provided here as info becomes available." Master chief John Lowell said Station Brant Point's 47-foot motor lifeboat joined in the search. One unconfirmed report said the pilot reported electrical problems before contact was lost; flight-tracking data reportedly showed a sharp drop in altitude. Latitude Air Ambulance, the FAA, and the NTSB did not respond to comment requests. Officials had not released details on those aboard or confirmed finding the plane, wreckage, or survivors.
