Man Critically Wounded in West Bank Shooting
A man in his 30s was shot near the Ein Rayya spring by the West Bank settlement of Neve Tzuf, also known as Halamish, north of Ramallah. Initial reports say a gunman fired from a vehicle at Israelis at or near the spring then fled on foot. The IDF deployed troops, established roadblocks, and launched a manhunt. The man was treated at the scene and evacuated by helicopter. The military said: "Numerous IDF troops have launched a pursuit after the terrorist and are carrying out roadblocks in the area." Most outlets report the man critically wounded and unconscious; Haaretz says police reported him killed. The Jerusalem Post described a red Mitsubishi SUV with Palestinian Authority plates, said Highway 465 was closed in both directions, and reported Binyamin Regional Brigade, Duvdevan, and Israel Police searching on foot, by drone, and with air force assets. The shooting came hours before Yom Kippur and after an IDF raid in Al-Mughayyir in which Palestinian officials said at least 28 people were detained. The attacker remained at large.
