Woman charged with neglect after leaving child in car following crash

Sydni Healy, 31, was arrested in Harrison County, West Virginia, after deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash and were told the driver had fled on foot, leaving a child in the vehicle. Deputies checked the child, who was not hurt but was not wearing a seatbelt and said they did not know how they crashed due to playing on the phone. Healy was found hiding in the woods near the scene. After field sobriety tests, authorities said she was showing signs of impairment. She was charged with neglect creating risk of bodily injury, also reported as child neglect creating a substantial risk of injury or death, and held at North Central Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond. A complaint cited by coverage states an individual who arrived to assist said Healy became angry and irate, has borderline personality syndrome, and was suspected to be impaired.
