Woking and Defoe Part Ways After Four Months

Former England striker Jermain Defoe has ended his first senior managerial role at Woking after about four months and six league games, with the club and Defoe mutually agreeing to part ways with immediate effect. Woking finished 10th in the National League that season, having recorded two wins, three draws and one loss in league play. Defoe said the circumstances made it impossible to continue, but he expressed pride in what he and the club were building and thanked supporters, players and staff for the opportunity. The club thanked Defoe for his contributions and reaffirmed its focus on its seasonal objectives. This marked Defoe’s first foray into full-time management, following a long playing career with Tottenham, West Ham and England, as well as coaching roles at Spurs and Rangers.
