Virginia districts report full school accreditation
Virginia’s latest school accountability results show broad gains and full accreditation across several local school divisions, though performance ratings vary. Henrico County, Warren County, Virginia Beach, Suffolk and Chesapeake all reported that every school in their respective divisions earned full state accreditation. Henrico nearly tripled its Distinguished schools to 28, while Chesapeake increased to 23 from seven and cut the number rated Needs Intensive Support from six to one. In Warren County, one school was rated Distinguished and A.S. Rhodes Elementary ranked among the state’s top 20 for improvement; Virginia Beach reported 47 Distinguished schools, and Suffolk reported six, up from two the prior year. Officials emphasized that accreditation reflects compliance with state requirements, while the performance framework measures student outcomes; Virginia Beach’s superintendent also identified outcomes for students with disabilities as an area needing continued work.
