Police say 3 women intercepted $65K in rent payments, causing tenant evictions
Police say three women stole more than $65,000 in rent payments intended for Fulton Pointe Apartments, leaving some tenants facing eviction even though they believed their rent had been paid. According to investigators, the alleged scheme involved rent checks and money orders from at least 60 victims. One woman told Tyisha Fernandes she was evicted while caring for a newborn, despite having several months of rent paid in advance. Authorities say Destiny Dorsey, Christia Smith, and Cynthia Dorsey face fraud-related charges as the investigation continues. Police believe there may be additional victims connected to other apartment complexes.
