U.S. Communities Advance New Recreation Projects

Cities in Alpharetta, Georgia; Galt, California; and Clarksville, Tennessee, are advancing new skatepark projects shaped by community input. Alpharetta’s skatepark is part of a $3.52 million renovation at Union Hill Park funded by a 2021 parks bond, with opening expected in May 2027; the existing skate area will be repurposed during the work. Galt plans to break ground on a replacement skatepark on October 19, 2026, using Measure Q funding. Clarksville has broken ground on the Bel-Aire all-wheels skatepark, funded by a community health foundation grant and designed with input from local skaters. The projects aim to expand access to dedicated outdoor recreation, with Clarksville’s facility intended to be larger than the city’s existing skatepark at Heritage Park.
