Trump Plans Montana Advanced-Weapons Test Super Range
President Donald Trump told a Kalispell rally on Oct. 14, 2026, that the Department of War will establish a new Super Range in Montana to test advanced weapons, naming potential autonomous weapons, space and electronic-warfare systems, and supersonic and hypersonic weapons. He said Montana will help ensure the American military always reigns supreme. The stop at Majestic Valley Arena was his second rally that day and third on a Western swing, backing Republican Aaron Flint against Democrat Sam Forstag for the House seat vacated by Ryan Zinke ahead of the Nov. 3 midterms. Trump joked that Sen. Tim Sheehy had pressed him for the range, warned that Democrat victories would take away guns and leave Montanans to wild animals, cited top NRA ratings for Flint and Senate candidate Kurt Alme, and touted a 160-acre Hailstone refuge hunting expansion. He also defended tariffs on the day an inflation report showed prices up 3.7% year-over-year and 0.6% month-over-month, claiming he had cut inflation to 1.7% from 19%—a figure the cited data do not support. Location, timeline, funding, and any tie to Montana's existing Spaceport & Test Range remain unstated.
