Transmission Projects Advance in Columbia, Gambia
Columbia’s proposed roughly $34–35 million transmission line, intended to strengthen electric reliability across the city, is moving toward City Council consideration after receiving unanimous endorsement from the Water and Light Advisory Board. The proposed route runs along Scott Boulevard and the Vawter School–Nifong–Grindstone corridor, near Mill Creek Elementary, and the project could take about a decade to complete. City officials say the route reflects cost considerations and that public feedback remains part of the process; residents have raised concerns about proximity to the school, potential health effects, property values and aesthetics. A public hearing is scheduled for the council to consider authorizing engineering plans, and officials say that step would not end opportunities for public input.
