North Carolina Marks Great Trails State Day With Halloween Events

North Carolina’s Great Trails State Day is being marked Saturday, Oct. 17, with residents encouraged to walk, bike, paddle, volunteer or join local trail events. In Pitt County, the free, Halloween-themed Trails & Treats event at Alice F. Keene District Park invites families to explore decorated trails for candy and prizes, with a scavenger hunt, food trucks and other activities. Great Trails State Day began in 2023 and was formally established as an annual observance on the third Saturday in October in 2024.
