Cinemark and AMC Theaters Close in Newport and Waco

Two movie theaters have recently closed: Cinemark Movies 10 near Newport, Delaware, and AMC Galaxy 16 in Waco, Texas. The Waco theater held its final screenings Oct. 8, leaving the city with only the Waco Cinemark XD; AMC’s closure is part of a broader effort to shutter underperforming locations. The Newport theater’s space in First State Plaza is now listed for rent. Waco residents have voiced concern about losing a local option, while the remaining Cinemark was previously deemed safe after pest-control measures following rodent reports.
