Steve Martin, Bluegrass Stars Recast ‘Old Town Road’

Steve Martin and Alison Brown have released a bluegrass reimagining of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” trading its country-trap production for banjo-led acoustic instrumentation. Martin adds humorous new lyrics, while bluegrass musicians Del McCoury and Dan Tyminski contribute vocals alongside Ronnie McCoury, Stuart Duncan and Garry West. Brown said the arrangement was designed to showcase the banjos while keeping the familiar melody under wraps at first. The release extends Martin and Brown’s collaboration following their 2025 album, *Safe, Sensible and Sane*.
