Prince William Plays Cricket for Earthshot in Mumbai Countdown
Prince William joined cricket stars from Britain, India and the West Indies for an informal match on The Mall outside Buckingham Palace, launching the countdown to the 2026 Earthshot Prize awards in Mumbai this November. The match, organized by Backyard Cricket, celebrated cricket and longstanding ties between Britain and India, with Joe Root, Brian Lara, Ajinkya Rahane, Sourav Ganguly, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Jimmy Anderson among the players. William batted and bowled, then greeted spectators and posed for selfies. Founded by William, the Earthshot Prize recognizes and supports environmental innovation; India has more winners and finalists than any other country, and organizers say the Mumbai ceremony will be the prize’s largest yet.
