Georgia Tech Beats Duke 28-25, Ends Unbeaten Run
Georgia Tech upset previously unbeaten Duke 28-25 in Atlanta, snapping a six-game losing streak against FBS opponents and earning its first ACC win of the season. Trelain Maddox scored three rushing touchdowns, including the one-yard go-ahead score with 54 seconds left, after Duke took its first lead with 2:40 remaining. Duke drove into position for a potential tying field goal, but freshman kicker Gavin Strange missed from 33 yards with four seconds to play. Nate Sheppard, playing through an ankle injury, totaled 190 yards from scrimmage and scored twice; Duke outgained Georgia Tech but was hurt by costly penalties and defensive lapses. Georgia Tech quarterback Alberto Mendoza threw for 218 yards and a touchdown.
