Springfield Cardinals Become Ozarks Springbirds

The Springfield Cardinals have rebranded as the Ozarks Springbirds, unveiling new uniforms, logos and colors while remaining the St. Louis Cardinals’ Double-A affiliate. The name connects Springfield, the wider Ozarks region and the franchise’s Cardinals ties; the new logo also draws on elements of Springfield’s flag and local landscape. The Springbirds are scheduled to debut April 2, 2027, at Route 66 Stadium in downtown Springfield. While the organization says the identity is meant to unite Southwest Missouri and give the team a distinct regional identity, one report criticized the name as awkward and overly cautious.
