2-0 Bruins Visit Minnesota for Wild Home Opener
Minnesota beat the Boston Bruins 4-1 on Saturday night at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul in the Wild's 2026-27 home opener, handing Boston its first loss after a 2-0 start that included a 4-3 overtime win at Winnipeg the night before. Tanner Jeannot opened the scoring at 1:53 of the first period off a Mark Kastelic redirect. Kirill Kaprizov tied it on a power play at 6:11 of the second, and Quinn Hughes scored with one second left on a five-on-three at 12:28 to make it 2-1. Jared Spurgeon's shot deflected off Nikita Zadorov's skate at 3:24 of the third for 3-1, and Kaprizov sealed the win with an empty-net goal with 1:01 left. Michael DiPietro made 26 saves on 29 shots in his third career NHL start; Jesper Wallstedt also stopped 26. Boston went scoreless on four power plays. Marco Sturm said special teams were probably the difference both ways and that he liked the 5-on-5 game, calling the first period outstanding. Connor Clifton said DiPietro was really good and kept the Bruins in it. DiPietro said the outcome was not what he wanted but he felt good, owns it, and has to be better. Jeannot called Kastelic the heartbeat of the team.
