Former Yale coach Tony Reno, who won five Ivy titles, dies at 52
Tony Reno, Yale’s former football coach, has died at 52; the university announced his death without stating a cause. Reno stepped down in February for health reasons after leading Yale for 14 seasons, compiling an 83-49 record and winning five Ivy League titles, the second-most victories in program history. His teams beat Harvard seven times in his final nine matchups and, in his last season, won the Ivy League championship and Yale’s first FCS playoff game. Yale athletic leaders and colleagues remembered Reno for his mentorship and commitment to his players, saying his lasting legacy extended beyond football. He is survived by his wife, Toni, and their three children, including Yale quarterback Dante Reno.
