Hamlin Takes Pole as Larson Struggles at Las Vegas

Denny Hamlin took the pole for Las Vegas’ South Point 400, leading a Toyota sweep of the top five starting spots and a Joe Gibbs Racing sweep of the top four. During the fifth race of the 10-race NASCAR Cup Series Chase, Hamlin spun in Turn 4 and finished Stage 1 in 28th, while points leader Kyle Larson finished the stage 23rd after an ill-handling car and an adjustment stop that cost him a lap. Both missed out on valuable stage points; the supplied coverage does not provide the final Cup race results. Las Vegas also hosted the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Chase.
