Alonso Extends Aston Martin Deal Through 2027

Fernando Alonso will continue with Aston Martin through 2027 after the team announced its unchanged lineup on September 29, 2026. The 45-year-old, who turns 46 next July, released a video reflecting on more than 23 years and over 400 Grands Prix before saying he will retire from Formula 1 but not yet. This will be his 24th season. He joined in 2023 and has eight podiums with the team. Aston Martin has 3 points from 15 rounds, all Alonso's, and ranks 10th of 11. Lance Stroll continues alongside him for a fifth year after arriving in 2019. Alonso holds 440 starts and won titles in 2005 and 2006. Alonso said he took his time but racing is his life, his passion, and he still has the speed and determination to compete at the highest level. He is committed for the long term and believes in the strong leadership, people, partners and facilities. Lawrence Stroll said the team is here to win and has the world-class talent needed for long-term objectives. In August Alonso said he would consider other positions at the team if it saw greater value in that. CONTESTED: LBC describes Alonso as 46; the record and other outlets state he is 45 and turns 46 in July 2027. The 2027 seats are now confirmed.
