Flyers’ Zegras draws delay-of-game penalty for tucked jersey

Philadelphia Flyers center Trevor Zegras received a two-minute delay-of-game penalty during a 2-0 preseason win over the Boston Bruins after starting a shift with his jersey tucked into his pants. The call was the first known enforcement of the NHL’s stricter equipment rules this season, which require jerseys to be untucked at the start of a shift and also cover items such as neck guards, visors and helmets. Players are expected to receive a warning before a penalty, with further violations potentially bringing a misconduct; a jersey that rides up during play is not a violation. Zegras said his jersey was tucked before the shift and that officials assessed the penalty after a warning.
