San Luis Obispo County Confirms First 2026 Measles Case
San Luis Obispo County confirmed its first measles case of 2026 on Oct. 7; the person is recovering at home, and no additional cases have been identified. Possible exposures occurred at Family Industrial Medical Center on Oct. 5 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and Oct. 6 from 12:30 to 3 p.m., and at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital’s emergency room on Oct. 7 from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. People exposed should monitor for symptoms for 7 to 21 days, including fever, cough, runny nose, watery eyes and rash, and call a health care provider before visiting a clinic or emergency room if symptoms develop. Officials say unvaccinated people or those unsure of their status are at higher risk and encourage eligible residents to check their MMR records and vaccination options.
