Robinhood Plans Round-the-Clock Weekend Stock Trading
Robinhood announced a package of products aimed at active traders, including plans to let customers trade a curated selection of U.S. stocks and ETFs around the clock on weekends, extending its weekday 24-hour trading service. The weekend feature, which would use Bruce ATS, is pending regulatory review, while eligible U.S. customers are also slated to get crypto perpetual futures and Cboe-linked contracts tied to company earnings metrics. Robinhood is expanding its AI trading-agent tools, which let users configure agents to research markets and place trades, and is also rolling out its Robinhood Social community. The announcements reflect a broader industry push toward longer trading hours, though thinner liquidity outside regular sessions could mean less favorable prices for investors. Shares briefly rose after the news but gave back those gains and were lower in Wednesday trading, contrary to reports of a sustained 5% jump.
