Restaurants Use Food to Build Community
Restaurants are serving as hubs for community support and connection in several local stories. New Bern’s Front Street Fish Co. plans a free dinner, with dine-in and takeout options and no sign-up required, to offer neighbors a meal and a chance to connect. In Massachusetts, Johnny’s Luncheonette and Bobby M’s Diner bring people together across generations; Bobby M’s also gives hospitality students hands-on business and kitchen experience. Separately, Mr. Mac’s says it offers affordable meals while supporting local organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club.
