Reports: Yemen Fighting Cuts Aid to 800,000
Renewed fighting across Yemen is overwhelming hospitals already weakened by years of conflict, with only a small share of functioning facilities able to provide comprehensive trauma care. Front-line hospitals report surging casualties and shortages of medicines, surgical supplies, anesthesia, oxygen and other essentials; in Taiz, a Houthi blockade has also restricted supplies, leaving facilities short of fuel and threatening care such as dialysis. Humanitarian agencies say fighting and road closures have cut off aid to about 800,000 people, while more than 200,000 people have been displaced in recent weeks, adding pressure to health services and communities. The ICRC warns the system may have little capacity to handle a further surge and is calling for sustained humanitarian access, resources and safe passage for medical workers and ambulances.
