Nine Fired FBI Staff Sue Over Trump Probe
Nine former FBI agents, analysts and operations staff members sued FBI Director Kash Patel, Attorney General Todd Blanche and federal agencies, seeking reinstatement and back pay after being fired in February for their roles in the investigation of President Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents. The lawsuit alleges the dismissals were politically motivated and bypassed FBI disciplinary procedures, denying employees investigations, notice or an opportunity to appeal; Patel has said fired employees engaged in misconduct or “weaponized” the bureau, claims the plaintiffs dispute. The complaint alleges Patel’s team accessed the investigation file shortly before the firings, suggests the timing was connected to criticism of Patel’s conduct at the Winter Olympics, and accuses him of giving Congress a false account of the dismissals. The plaintiffs say the firings disrupted sensitive national-security work, while the FBI and Justice Department had not publicly responded to the lawsuit in the cited reports.
