Patriots Hall of Famer Jon Morris dies at 84
Jon Morris, a foundational center for the Boston and New England Patriots, has died at 84, the team announced; no cause of death was disclosed. He played 11 seasons in New England from 1964 to 1974, appearing in 130 games and earning six AFL All-Star selections before becoming the franchise’s first NFL Pro Bowl selection in 1970. A Holy Cross standout, Morris was drafted by both the Patriots and Green Bay Packers and chose to play in Boston; he later finished his career with the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears. After retiring, he returned to the Patriots as a radio color commentator, and the team inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 2011.
