Oregon State takes 14-0 lead over Montana in opening quarter

Oregon State scored touchdowns on its first two possessions and defeated Montana 52-17. Braden Atkinson finished with six total touchdowns, tying Sean Mannion's Oregon State single-game record, after throwing for 333 yards and five scores while the Beavers reached 510 yards of offense. The first score came when Atkinson completed a 40-yard pass to AJ Newberry and then found Eric Olsen for a 19-yard touchdown. Montana forced a stop and reached the Oregon State 48-yard line. Keali'i Ah Yat's fourth-down pass intended for Brooks Davis fell incomplete. A 21-yard Newberry run later set up Atkinson's touchdown throw to Bubba Hampton. Atkinson piled up four passing touchdowns and one rushing score before halftime alone. Jesse Legree again topped 100 receiving yards, and Kai Wheaton secured his first collegiate interception late. Montana arrived 3-0 for its first FBS game since beating Washington in 2021; Oregon State was 0-2 after losses to Houston and Texas Tech. Left-rated and right-rated coverage both described a decisive Oregon State win; no contested facts appear in the record.
