New Mexico Implements Universal Childcare Statewide

The Santa Fe New Mexican has significantly expanded its digital reach among younger readers: people ages 25 to 34 are now its largest audience segment, with growth of nearly 200,000 annual users in 2025. Separately, New Mexico’s universal child care program, covering children from 6 weeks to 13 years old, has eliminated fees for families and increased state reimbursements to providers, easing financial and administrative pressures for home-based caregivers.
