Miranda Lambert Debuts at Truth With Sold-Out Show
Miranda Lambert’s new album, Crisco, marks a country-disco turn that draws on earlier country eras and pop production, while reflecting her interest in broadening the genre’s sound. She celebrated its release by opening Nashville’s new venue The Truth with a sold-out performance featuring album tracks, career hits and Chris Stapleton joining her for “A Song to Sing,” a collaboration that helped inspire the record. Lambert has said Dolly Parton’s example shaped the project and her outlook, while the song with Stapleton recalls Parton’s country-pop duets with Kenny Rogers. The album also features Ella Langley, who has credited Lambert’s unapologetic artistry with inspiring her confidence; the two have collaborated on music including Langley’s hit “Choosin’ Texas.” Lambert praised the current wave of women in country, saying she is glad to see them succeeding and respects what it takes to build careers in the genre.
