Karoline Leavitt to join Fox News as contributor after White House exit
Karoline Leavitt, 29, will join Fox News as an on-air contributor starting November 1. She stepped down as the 36th White House press secretary—the youngest in U.S. history—at the end of August after 585 days, the second-longest tenure among Donald Trump's press secretaries. Trump announced her departure, citing her wish to spend more time with her children. She gave birth to her second child, daughter Viviana, in May, returned from maternity leave, and then left the post. Fox News announced the hire on a Monday and plans to build a studio at her New Hampshire home. Suzanne Scott said Leavitt's "firsthand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of today's political landscape." She will return to MAGA Inc., the Trump-aligned super PAC; Trump said she would remain one of his outside advisers. The press secretary job remains vacant. Kayleigh McEnany joined Fox News in 2021 and remains there; Dana Perino has built a long career at the network. Outlets agree on the hire, dates, and family reason Trump cited. They differ in emphasis: left-rated coverage frames the contributor role against the family-time exit; right-rated coverage leads with that exit and the home-studio plan. No dispute on the core figures is reported.
