Kentucky babysitter charged with murder after baby found dead in couch

Kentucky authorities arrested 19-year-old Elijah Mayes after 11-month-old Grayson Walton, whom he was supposed to babysit, was found dead inside a couch at a Cleaton home. Police said the baby had bruises and apparent teeth marks on his stomach, and investigators allege Mayes fabricated an alibi by creating a fake phone number and sending messages to himself while claiming a family friend had picked up the child. The woman denied taking Grayson, and a relative reportedly said the baby was last seen with Mayes at another property. Police also said suspected methamphetamine was found during the investigation. Mayes faces murder, abuse of a corpse, criminal abuse and drug-possession charges, while his step-grandfather was separately arrested on suspicion of tampering with physical evidence.
