Katie Zacharia has been offered the position of White House press secretary, according to two White House officials, which would bring a new face to the podium following Karoline Leavitt’s departure from the role. According to Fox News, Zacharia currently works as a senior communications adviser to Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind President Donald Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social. An attorney and frequent television commentator, she has also held a brief communications position within the Department of Homeland Security. Two White House officials confirmed the offer to Fox News Digital on Friday afternoon. It was not immediately clear whether Zacharia had accepted the position. If she takes the job, Zacharia would succeed Leavitt, who left the press secretary position in late August after giving birth to her second child in May. The White House has held just two formal press briefings since Leavitt’s departure. Vice President JD Vance led one session, while Attorney General Todd Blanche conducted the other. Zacharia’s background combines political communications, legal experience and media appearances. Her current position at Trump Media & Technology Group places her within the company responsible for operating Truth Social, which Trump uses as a platform to communicate with the public. She previously served briefly as a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security after Tricia McLaughlin left her position as press secretary to former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. Zacharia also has family ties to the entertainment industry. She and her husband, Tyler, have been married since 2011 and have four children. Tyler Zacharia is a film producer whose credits include Martin Scorsese’s 2019 film “The Irishman” and the 2025 movie “Roofman.” According to Katie Zacharia’s Instagram profile, his work has also included projects with Angel Studios, including “David,” “Brink of War” and “Young Washington.” The potential appointment comes as the administration faces the task of establishing a new routine for White House media briefings following Leavitt’s exit. The press secretary serves as a key point of contact between the president’s administration and reporters covering the White House. For now, Zacharia’s next move remains uncertain, with no confirmation that she has accepted the offer. Further details about the potential appointment had not been announced as of Friday.
