Former NBA Players Set for Miami Boxing Match

Former NBA players Delonte West and Michael Beasley are scheduled to meet in a heavyweight boxing match at Brand Risk 16 in Miami on Friday, October 16. The bout draws interest from their competitive history, which West says included scuffles, and from Beasley’s prior experience in crossover combat sports. West has said he is not intimidated and is focused on winning; he has also publicly credited a recovery program as he works through past personal struggles. Dwight Howard, West’s former rival from the NBA’s 2009 Eastern Conference Finals, voiced support for him and praised his recovery while jokingly urging him to beat Beasley. The event’s advertised card and bout order may change, and the reported ring-walk time is only an estimate.
