Flock Safety plans 270 job cuts amid backlash
Flock Safety plans to cut about 270 jobs, or 18% of its workforce, after a voluntary separation program, with employees expected to leave at the end of October. The Atlanta-based company operates roughly 120,000 AI-powered cameras across 49 states that read license plates and record passing vehicles, serving law enforcement agencies and businesses. The cuts come as the company faces growing criticism from communities, lawmakers and privacy advocates over surveillance and data-sharing practices; a recent poll found more Americans opposed than supported the use of its cameras in their communities.
